Organisation

Each edition of Manifesta is managed by a combination of permanent international team members and local specialists. The organisation operates from its offices in Amsterdam and the Host City or Region. For Manifesta 16 Ruhr, the offices are currently located in Essen.

For extended periods of time, the permanent team of International Foundation Manifesta operates on-site in each Host City or Region to ensure that the synergy and knowledge production between the international experience and the local expertise is embedded as a legacy in the Ruhr Area. Manifesta seeks to create a continuity between editions, driven by openness, collaboration and the transfer of knowledge. This ongoing process is driven by a steady flow of activities, where research, curatorial innovation and societal engagement play a vital role.
